Water Bottle Study

Water Bottle Study Conducted at Pepperdine University

Who knew that a bottle could change the way you see things?

We’ve always known that our bottle was better (thus the name), but we wanted proof. So we recently commissioned a study with Dr. Holden MacRae at Pepperdine University to see whether people actually drink more water from certain bottles.

The results are in: People drank 24% more water with a CamelBak® reusable water bottle than with other reusable and disposable bottles. Participants preferred the CamelBak Better Bottle™ over the others because it was easier to use, more convenient and more fun to drink from. Participants also appreciated thoughtful design considerations like the lid (no need to remove it to drink), and the spill-proof, no-tip Bite Valve™ drink interface.

“Drinking water is one of the greatest gifts you can give your body – it’s essential for everything from heart health and fat metabolism to complex brain functions,” said Dr. MacRae.  “The results of this study were quite surprising in that a simple difference in design enabled people to do something good for their bodies without any extra effort.”

The study at Pepperdine University proves something that we’ve heard for years.  People often tell us they believe they drink more water when they use CamelBak products. Through a more intelligent, innovative approach to bottle design, we are keeping people better hydrated and giving them a great reason to ditch the disposable water bottle once and for all.

The Better Bottle™ -- make the switch.

MORE INFO ON THE STUDY:

The CamelBak® drink study at Pepperdine University involved four water bottles: Study participants used each of the following four bottles for a two-week period: a reusable screw-cap plastic bottle, reusable screw-cap metal bottle, disposable screw-cap PET bottle and a CamelBak® Better Bottle™ with the Big Bite™ Valve mouthpiece.

With the CamelBak Better Bottle, participants drank 24 percent more water than with the disposable bottle, 18 percent more water than with the reusable metal bottle and 15 percent more than with the reusable plastic bottle. Participants used each bottle for a two-week period.
